Logo Design

Throughout the years, I have been asked to develop many logos. I always love the challenge of creating a logo. In my opinion, there are two types of logo: ones for large existing corporations and those for startup ventures. It is always exciting to see a logo I created for a startup still looking great today.

These days, logos can be designed online for as little as 99.99 or as much as a few thousand. What's the difference? The amount of time that went into creating that particular design: Time in research and market testing. A logo is a very powerful element in the success of any business or branding effort.

When I design a logo, I have certain rules of thumb. Number one is that it has to work in black. No colors, bevels or 3d effects - just black.

Developing and designing a logo can be serious business. As a designer and developer, my work is judged by hundreds even thousands of people. A lot of research and discussion goes into the developing of logo prototypes and the use of colors. There are certain colors which work very well in certain industries and not in others. Orange, red and yellow work well in the hospitality industry, while green and blue work well in the health care industry.

There are many occasions where there is no graphic design in a logo at all; just a font style and the name of the company, like NBC, ABC, or the Times, for example. The style of the letter has a lot to do with the overall design as well. Fonts are most notably broken down into categories of Serif (Times) and Sans Serif (Arial), but there are other ways to categorize them.

When you start to consider the graphic styles, font styles, and colors that a simple logo can have, you realize there are many different meanings and emotions attached to that logo.

That is just one of the reasons I find logo design one of the most rewarding and challenging aspects of commercial graphic design. If you need a logo developed, I can do that for you.
